Meet Our Landscaper: Penny

Based near Nelson, BC, our landscaper, Penny, brings her love for nature and the local mountains to every project.
Penny’s journey to landscape design began with her first job in Nelson, working with the trees and forest surrounding Kokanee Creek Park. This led to work in several rural gardens, where she learned about sustainable garden practices.
At one early job, she found herself replacing native plants with high-maintenance tropical species, a questionable experience that inspired her to dive deeper into eco-friendly landscaping. This led to her formal training at the University of Guelph, and a commitment to raising awareness about how gardening can contribute to environmental health.
For Penny, gardening is a way to take meaningful action for the planet. By choosing the right plants and focusing on healthy soil, we can create beautiful, low-maintenance landscapes that support local ecosystems, improve water quality, and encourage healthy plants and wildlife. She believes that what we do in our gardens matters, and that collectively, these choices benefit the larger community.
Penny is passionate about sharing this knowledge with clients, helping them see that they can enjoy a beautiful garden while making a positive impact on the world around them.
